About

If the rest of the site has not provided you with the kind of information you desire about the site and/or myself, hopefully this page will quench that thirst for knowledge. I will offer some information about how the site works, for you geeks who like knowing stuff about the intertubes. For you people person types I will tell you a tick about myself.

The Site...

I've pretty much lost count at this point, however, my best guess is that you are currently enjoying the forth or fifth revision of the site. I enjoy big number version releases, so consider this v4 of the site. Perhaps I am such a rebel I want to break the mold of never-ending "beta" websites (I'm looking at you Flickr; "gamma" isn't fooling anyone.). The truth, however, is that I have never finished one version of the site. My development schedule is at a snails pace, so by the time I come close to completing a version, I scrap it and start over. Is the way with programmers I suppose.

Version four(ish) is coded in asp.net on a Mac using Parallels. Yes, I use a Mac and I am a .NET developer; I am a confused person. For some reason I decided that coding my own blog software was the best choice. Not because other offerings didn't suit my needs, because I am certain at this point that they would. No, I was just looking for something to take up my time while I listened to music. As a matter of fact, I have been using WordPress as a roadmap of sorts as to what a good publishing platform looks like. Kudos to the WordPress team for creating such a fantastic piece of software.

This latest version also employs SQL Server 2005 to store all the goods. Previous version kept it real (real awful) with an Access databse. I was poor, lay off.

The "design" was also created by yours truly. I don't claim to be a designer. My expertise in Photoshop is functional, at best. My ability is akin to that grandparent who double clicks everything or that guy at the office who right-clicks to perform a copy/paste.

Hosting is provided by ISQ Solutions. For affordable shared Windows 2003 Server hosting I recommend them. They've been pretty good so far. Admittedly, my needs have been pretty tame, so I haven't had that extensive an experience with them.

The guy...

I am Jordan Thomas, resident of the Cincinnati area. I'm in my mid-twenties. I develop websites for a living. Use a Mac. Is that enough? No, probably not.

Cincinnati has been home for a vast majority of my years. It is a pretty boss place to live; I can't complain anyhow. When I say Cincinnati I mean Cincinnati and the surrounding region (I actually live in Kentucky). We have a moderately awesome music scene here. I try and get out to see shows on the weekends.

I am trying to pick up photography as a hobby. I know little to nothing but I have fun when I do it. Once I get a few pictures worth looking at I will begin posting them here.
